Industry Leaders Say Trump Changes Hurt Las Vegas Tourism

Las Vegas is seeing a sharp drop in tourism, causing concern for local businesses and hospitality workers.

Industry experts link this decline to recent policy shifts made by the Trump administration, which have led to stricter immigration rules and rising international tensions.

Visitor numbers were down 7.8% in March 2025 year-over-year, while international arrivals at Harry Reid International Airport dropped by 8.7% in May.

Anthony Curtis, well-known publisher of the Las Vegas Advisor, says soaring costs—like parking fees and hotel surcharges—are pushing tourists away.

Travelers complain about high prices, with some reporting spending $40 on just two coffees and two croissants.

The so-called "Trump Slump" is making headlines as deportation cases and expensive trips deter visitors.

Local leaders now call for policy updates to revive Las Vegas’s global appeal and reverse the downward trend.

Leonor Margets Breaks 30-Year Barrier at WSOP Main Event Final Table

Leonor “Leo” Margets of Barcelona is set to break barriers at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, reaching the final table on Tuesday in Las Vegas — the first woman to do so since Barbara Enright in 1995.

At age 41, Margets has already earned more than $2 million and a WSOP bracelet, now standing just steps away from claiming poker’s top prize of $10 million.

She faces stiff competition from chip leader John Wasnock of Washington, seasoned Las Vegas pro Michael Mizrachi, and several international contenders, with the final table drawn from a historic 9,735 entrants.

Margets credits her marathon running past for her resilience, as she vies to become the first woman ever to win the WSOP Main Event and inspire a whole new generation in the poker world.

Leo Margets Breaks 30-Year Barrier at WSOP Main Event Final Table

Leo Margets has made history as the first woman in 30 years to reach the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event final table, following in the footsteps of Barbara Enright.

The 41-year-old from Barcelona, already a WSOP bracelet winner, now stands just steps away from becoming the event’s first female champion.

Margets’ journey was punctuated by a pivotal win against Sergio Veloso, boosting her position among the nine finalists with over 53 million chips.

John Wasnock leads the table with 108.1 million chips, while Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi and other international contenders promise fierce competition.

The 2025 Main Event drew 9,735 entrants and will crown its winner this week at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas amid an extreme heat warning for the city.

Margets’ breakthrough inspires aspiring female players and marks a turning point in poker’s legacy.
